Matt Sampsell

anchors and reports for Pierce County News. Matt began his broadcasting career after graduating from Washington State University with B.A. in communications in 1986.

His first job was as a news reporter in the Tri-Cities with KVEW(ABC). Matt was a sports reporter/anchor at WHIO(CBS) in Dayton, Ohio, KSTW-TV Seattle/Tacoma, and KRIV(Fox) in Houston, Texas. Matt won the 1999 Edward R. Murrow Award while reporting in Houston. After 16 years in Texas, Matt is very happy to be back home in the Pacific Northwest. He began working with PCTV in March of 2016.

Pierce County News has been serving the people of Pierce County since 2005. The show was nominated for an EMMY in 2010. PCN has been consistently recognized by NATOA, the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors, as one of the top 5 government news programs.
